  • Type
Some types of ants are very well known by humans because they live together with humans with humans, such as black ants, large ants, red ants, fire ants, and rangrang ants.
Termites are sometimes called white ants but they are completely different groups of ants even though they have the same social structure
  • Morphology
Ants are distinct in their morphology from other insects in having elbowed antennae, metapleural glands, and a strong constriction of their second abdominal segment into a node-like petiole. The head, mesosoma, and metasoma are the three distinct body segments. The petiople forms a narrow waist between their mesosoma and gaster. The patiole may be formed by one or two nodes(the second alone,or the second and third abdominal segments).
